The investigation of a west Edmonton fire, that ripped through a condo complex overnight, has now begun.

The flames broke out at a building under construction, near 101 Avenue and 160 Street, around midnight and quickly spread to a neighbouring 3-unit building that was occupied.

City police helped fire crews make sure everyone was safely evacuated. The fire has since been declared out.

One unit was heavily damaged and at least 5 people will need to find a new place to live. The condo that was under construction has been completely destroyed.

Power was lost in the area for several hours.
