City council is preparing for when recreational marijuana becomes legal with a production facility that will cover 16 football fields.
The Aurora Sky run facility is planned to be acres of hybrid greenhouses with the ability to produce more than 100 thousand kilograms of marijuana a year.
The massive facility is getting mixed reactions from residents. “It’s really exciting for us to see the change finally come.” Tom Billings a local business owner said. “We would like to see it not just in the hands of corporations but in the hands of regular people growing safer cannabis for people.”
However, some believe that the production is in good hands. “Aurora [has been] a really good company.” Ray English an investor in cannabis companies said. “They’ve followed all the regulations and done everything that the government has wanted them to.”
On March 14 the City Council’s Executive Committee will receive a report detailing any possible complications from proximity of dispensaries to community buildings to odor mitigation and appropriate smoking zones.
The facility is scheduled for completion in October.
