Early Wednesday afternoon, emergency crews were on the scene of a serious collision west of Edmonton.

The collision involved a snow plow and a vehicle on Highway 43 near Range Road 31 in the area of Gunn, Alberta. It happened at about 11 a.m.

STARS Air Ambulance was called to the scene, RCMP on the scene said a person from the second vehicle was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the snow plow was injured, but he was treated at the scene.

RCMP were investigating the cause, but said both vehicles were travelling in the same direction at the time of the incident.

The highway in both directions was closed for several hours as a result of the crash.

No charges have been laid.
