A man in his 40s is in hospital, after being hit by a northbound LRT train Monday afternoon.

Police told CTV News the man was riding a bicycle across the train tracks, in a marked crossing at 112 Avenue at about 2:30 p.m. when he was struck.

According to police, the man was dragged by the train for between 50 and 100 metres.

The man suffered a broken ankle and abrasions, and was rushed to hospital by ambulance.

Paramedics also treated the LRT operator for shock.

Police are investigating.
