Edmonton police have been investigating after a body was discovered on the road near Fort Edmonton Park overnight.

Officers found the body of a 20-something man along Fox Drive, near the Fort Edmonton Park Road around 1:45 a.m. Saturday.

Authorities said a driver saw the man lying in the road and was able to swerve out of the way however a second vehicle then struck the man.

They also said they have been trying to determine why he was lying in the road in the first place.

The man did not have any identification on him. 

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday afternoon. 

Fox Drive was closed off overnight but reopened around 9 a.m.
