RCMP in Red Deer say they stumbled onto an attack on a man who was being held against his will when they arrived at a hotel to execute a search warrant.
They say they ended up taking four men and three underage females into custody, although one girl was later released.
The incident happened at the Aladdin Hotel Thursday afternoon as police were investigating the whereabouts of Darren Lagrelle, 19, wanted on outstanding warrants.
During their search they found the victim who was being held in the hotel room. He was treated by EMS at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.
Four of the men and two of the underage girls have been charged in the case.
