Edmonton police are asking for the public’s help to identify a number of persons of interest in connection to a series of recent fires in the Callingwood area.

Police said surveillance cameras captured the suspects lighting fire to dumpsters and garbage cans in a number of locations in Callingwood.

The first incident reportedly took place on July 15 at about 8 p.m. at a school near 62 Avenue and 172 Street. Another fire was reported that same day in a dumpster behind a condo unit near 66 Avenue and 172 Street, and police were called again to a shed near a church in the area of 61 Avenue and 172 Street.

The next day, police were called to a garbage can fire at about 11 a.m. at a baseball diamond near 63 Avenue and 172 Street. At 1 p.m., police were called to a dumpster fire in the parking lot of a school near 62 Avenue and 172 Street – it was the same dumpster that had been set on fire the day before.

The most recent fire was reported at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 26 at the school located on 62 Avenue and 172 Street – a garbage can had been lit on fire just outside the building.

It’s believed the same individuals could be responsible for nine arsons in that area, including three fires in garbage cans, logs and a propane tank in a dog park in the area of 69 Avenue and 172 Street.

Police released stills taken from surveillance footage showing persons of interest in these cases.
