Months after Premier Rachel Notley’s cabinet was first sworn in, the premier expanded her cabinet, adding six new members, five ministers and an associate minister – and shuffling existing members to other files.

On Tuesday, the six new members were sworn-in:

  • Richard Feehan, MLA for Edmonton-Rutherford, named as Minister of Indigenous Relations
  • Christina Gray, MLA for Edmonton-Mill Woods, named Minister of Labour and Minister Responsible for Democratic Renewal
  • Ricardo Miranda, MLA for Calgary-Cross, named Minister of Culture and Tourism
  • Stephanie McLean, MLA for Calgary-Varsity, named Minister of Service Alberta and Minister of the Status of Women
  • Marlin Schmidt, MLA for Edmonton-Gold Bar, named Minister of Advanced Education
  • Brandy Payne, MLA for Calgary-Acadia, named Associate Minister for Health

In addition, two existing members of cabinet were given new portfolios:

  • Minister Sarah Hoffman was named Deputy Premier, she is also still Health Minister
  • Minister Lori Sigurdson is now Minister for Seniors and Housing

Sigurdson was originally appointed as Minister of Innovation and Advanced Education, and Minister of Jobs, Skills, Training and Labour. In October, she was sworn in as Minister of Advanced Education, in addition to her previous post. Minister Gray’s portfolio replaces Sigurdson’s previous file, and Minister Schmidt has taken over Advanced Education.
