Police in central Alberta are investigating after shots rang out Wednesday night – leaving two injured.

Sylvan Lake RCMP said officers were called just after 9 p.m. to a home on the outskirts of Eckville, after shots were reportedly fired.

When police arrived, they found two males suffering from serious injuries – they were taken to hospital for treatment.

STARS Air Ambulance said crews responded and transported a male in his 20s in connection to the incident, he was taken to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton with a gunshot wound.

Meanwhile, investigators are working to determine what happened at the home.

“I can’t say whether those injuries can be related to the shots fired or associated to the shots fired,” Insp. Gibson Glavin with RCMP said. “They are serious injuries to these two males.”

It’s not clear how many suspects were involved, police said – investigators called the incident isolated, and said the public isn’t in danger.
