More products that may contain potentially Salmonella-contaminated mangoes are being recalled.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a warning over “Ready Pac” Fruit Tray Bien and Super Fruit Medley products sold in western Canada – including here in Alberta.

The products contain pieces of Daniella-brand mangoes, which have been recalled due to potential contamination with Salmonella Braenderup bacteria.

The following Ready Pac products are affected:

Fruit Tray Bien Fruit Blend – 907 g – UPC #0 77745 23415 1

Super Fruit Medley Fruit Blend – 298 g – UPC #0 77745 24023 7

The products were distributed in British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Canada Safeway Ltd. Is voluntarily recalling the affected products.

Consuming food contaminated with Salmonella Braenderup bacteria may cause salmonellosis, a foodbourne illness.

Salmonellosis may cause serious and sometimes deadly infections for young  children, the elderly or people with weakened immune systems.

The CFIA says short-term symptoms for otherwise healthy people may include high fever, severe headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

Call 1-800-442-2342 if you have concerns over the purchasing or consumption of the product.
