An Edmonton senior has won his battle against Canada Post over the location of a community mailbox.

For the past ten days, 76-year-old Kenneth Pudetz has been on guard at the edge of his property in Mill Woods, refusing to allow Canada Post to install a community mailbox. He covered the hole that had been dug for the job.

Tuesday morning, Canada Post confirmed that the mailbox will be installed at another location.

“They’re not doing this for me, they're doing this to stop me from being a pain,” said Pudetz.

In an email, a Canada Post spokesperson wrote “whenever a concern is raised about a proposed site, we make it our policy to investigate any alternate solutions.”

The company said nearly 30 per cent of mailbox sites have been changed, based on customer feedback.

The plan is to eliminate door-to-door delivery by 2019.
