The Edmonton Police Service has released new surveillance footage in connection with a hit and run collision that left an Edmonton postal worker in hospital and unable to walk.

Greg Mady, 32, was working his normal route in the area of 127 Avenue and 125 Street on Thursday, December 4. While climbing out of his delivery truck he was hit by a vehicle. According to witnesses, the vehicle headed northbound onto 126 Street and sped away.

“I didn’t see road, I didn’t see sky, I just saw a black out of something in front of me, and then I woke up on the pavement,” Mady told CTV News on Monday.

Mady was knocked unconscious and woke up in a pool of his own blood. He was transported to hospital, where he is being treated for multiple fractures to both legs. He doesn’t know when he’ll walk again. Doctors say he has six months of rehabilitation in front of him. He is still hoping the driver will come forward.

“Honestly, I just want him or her, I don’t know, to take responsibility for what they've done,” Mady said Monday. “An apology would be nice. I hope that they would offer one.”

Now, police are hoping that surveillance footage might help someone from the public identify the vehicle. It’s described as a four-door, dark coloured SUV with a roof rack and tinted windows. It is believed to be an older model Jeep Grand Cherokee. Police believe the vehicle may have damage to its right hand side.

“We are asking for anyone with information about this vehicle to come forward to police, or that the driver of the vehicle comes forward to speak with us about the collision,” said Const. Jeff McIsaac with EPS Northeast Division.

Anyone with information about the hit and run is asked to call Edmonton police at 780-423-4567 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. You can show your support for Mady by visiting this Facebook page.
