A woman is dead after a three-vehicle collision on the Anthony Henday Drive near Yellowhead Trail early Saturday morning.

Police said the crash occurred at approximately 2:45 a.m. when a vehicle driving northbound in the southbound lanes of the Henday at 109 Avenue struck a southbound Mercedes Benz SUV head-on. Another southbound vehicle immediately struck the back of the Mercedes after the first crash, police said.

The 28-year-old driver of the northbound Honda Odyssey died on scene. The driver and passenger of the Mercedez Benz sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Next of kin have not been notified.

Police said alcohol or speed were not factors in the collision.

This is Edmonton's 23rd fatal collision this year.
