CTV News has learned a controversial zoo in Three Hills, Alta. previously shut down by the province, is open for visitors once again. The province confirms GuZoo Animal Farm is open under strict conditions, including allowing access for inspections.

Back in June, the zoo was closed after a social media campaign against the farm went viral alleging some animals were in distress. Several photos posted to Facebook showed some animals living in what appeared to be sub-standard conditions.

A provincial report showed what it called major deficiencies in the day-to-day operations.

"They had this so called report done, and we've gone over it and addressed a lot of the things on it and remedied them. And we'll continue to do that through the summer here," said GuZoo owner Lynn Gustafson.

A lawyer for the zoo has been granted a judicial review, which is scheduled for the end of September.

"Their job is to take a look at whether in fact there was any errors in either legal or procedural matters around making the decision to decommission," said Dave Ealey with Alberta Sustainable Resource Development.

One Calgary family says visiting the zoo is an educational experience for their children.

"Honestly the interaction for my daughter, she's four-years-old now, you can't beat this," said Sam Watson.
