The man accused of pulling the trigger in a shooting and robbery on the U of A campus made his first court appearance Thursday.

Travis Baumgartner is facing three counts of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder and four counts of robbery with a firearm.

In court, the accused was given a list of people he cannot contact while in custody, which include his parents. And according to the Crown prosecutor, most of the people on the list are expected to be witnesses.

"It's actually a pretty routine order with important witnesses," Steve Bilodeau said outside and Edmonton court. "While he's in remand, he can't phone them or contact them in any way."

The list also includes some of Baumgartner's friends and co-workers. Baumgartner was working for security company G4S Canada at the time of the robbery.

He was apprehended on Saturday, June 16, while trying to cross the Canada – U.S. border near Abbotsford, BC.

He had been the subject of an international manhunt, and Canada-wide murder warrants were issued for his alleged role in the armed robbery and triple homicide that took place last Friday morning.

G4S employees Michelle Shegelski, 26, Brian Ilesic, 35, and Eddie Rejano, 39, were shot and killed in HUB Mall at the U of A.

A fourth victim Cpl. Matthew Schuman, 26, remains in hospital in serious, but stable condition.

Baumgartner has been remanded into custody until July 5th.
