A large wildfire near Redwater, north east of Edmonton, has now been contained.

Crews using bulldozers have completed a guard around the blaze, close to the Redwater Sandhills recreation area. They are now working to keep flames from jumping over the boundaries.

There are no reports of injuries.

There's been no word on a possible cause and crews say no structures were threatened by the fire.
