Fire crews continue to battle three wildfires near Fort McMurray – from the ground and by air.
According to Alberta Wildfire officials, one fire is located about 90 kilometres north of city boundaries – the other is in the TaigaNova area.
Shortly before 10 p.m. Sunday evening, Mayor Blake declared a local state of emergency localized to Gregoire.
A mandatory evacuation notice was issued for residents in Centennial Park, south of Airport Road, Prairie Creek included, as well as Gregoire.
Police went door to door to ask residents to gather belongings and relocate to the evacuation centre at MacDonald Island where both residents and their pets were being received.
The wildfire hazard in Fort McMurrary remains high.
Residents are urged to check regularly for updates.
