Edmonton police said a cyclist passed away in hospital over the weekend, days after he was struck in a collision with a pickup truck.

The cyclist suffered serious injuries early Friday morning, as he rode his bike westbound on 107 Avenue at 127 Street, when he was hit by a truck turning left.

At the time, police said he was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and he was not wearing a helmet.

Police said Monday the man passed away late Sunday in hospital.

Investigators are working on finding out what happened prior to the crash – speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors, but the sun’s glare is being investigated as a contributing factor in the crash.
