Police have declared the death of a 39-year-old woman, found in a southeast Edmonton home to be homicide, and a man has been charged.

The Edmonton Medical Examiner said 39-year-old Charissa Kozakewich was murdered.

Kozakewich was found dead on Thursday, after a man went to a Sherwood Park RCMP detachment just after 1 a.m., and allegedly reported an injured person was in a home in the area of 73 Street and 22 Avenue in Edmonton.

Officers found Kozakewich’s body inside the residence, and the man was arrested.

Now, police have charged that man, named Edward Fountain, 42, with second degree murder.

The cause of death will not be released – police said this was not random, and the accused and the deceased knew eachother.

Fountain has been scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, October 10.
