Several VIPs and dignitaries lined up to get a glimpse into Edmonton International Airport's expansion Saturday.
Edmonton's Ward 6 councillor Jane Batty said she was very proud of what she saw.
"It is absolutely spectacular," she told CTV News.
"Edmontonians will be very proud."
Coun. Batty described the addition as spacious, comfortable and inviting. She also praised the use of work by several local artists.
"[It's] a very positive assault on your senses," she explained.
Edmonton-centre MP Laurie Hawn was also among those who came to explore the new space.
"It's absolutely world class," he said.
"This puts us not just on a par with other airports in Canada but a step above other airports in Canada."
Although the terminal will only officially open to the public on February 11, the airport has been posting updates on their website.
