A former Canadian Forces member, who had been based out of CFB Wainwright, was arrested Wednesday after online threats were reportedly made against personnel at the base.
A military police official told CTV News that the former member was arrested Wednesday at 4 p.m. at CFB Wainwright, and he had a loaded handgun in his possession when he was brought into custody.
According to officials, an off-duty officer alerted military police at CFB Kingston that threatening messages were being made towards personnel at the Wainwright base on an unnamed social media website.
Military police said the man was still in custody with them, and charges were pending – no details identifying the man in custody were available.
