Younger members of Edmonton's gay and lesbian community opened up about some of the struggles they face in an effort to help other community members understand their challenges.

The Youth Advisory Network held the forum Saturday afternoon to reach out to minority groups and get feedback about their experiences in society.

"People are opening up about their own stories and what difficulties they have to face, what things have worked for them, to make them feel more welcomed," said Maddalena Genovese from the Youth Advisory Network.

The forum was put on in partnership with Camp Firefly, the largest retreat for gay and lesbian youth.
