Edmonton police are investigating after a man was found dead in a grass median next to an off-ramp in the city’s west end on Sunday morning.

According to police, the body was discovered by a passer-by in the area of Stony Plain Road and Winterburn Road just after 8 a.m. on April 10.

Police said the victim suffered “major head trauma” and that the body may have been on-scene for several hours before being noticed.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation and are treating the death as suspicious.

Edmonton’s major collision unit was also looking into tire tracks that appear to lead up to the scene as part of the investigation. Police caution the tracks may be unrelated.

No other details have been released.
