The driver of a vehicle which collided head on with another car, killing a 67-year-old Alberta Beach man Saturday evening, has been charged with impaired driving.

STARS air ambulance and other emergency crews were dispatched to Alberta Beach just after 7:30 p.m. following a head-on collision.

Investigators say two vehicles appeared to collide head-on, killing one of the drivers, a 67-year-old man from the Alberta Beach area. The passenger in that vehicle was treated by EMS on scene and was later released.

The driver of the second vehicle, 43-year-old Rodney Ivan Flight, was arrested and RCMP have now laid several charges against him including impaired driving causing death and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level above .08.

Flight was released on bail under the condition that he does not driver any motor vehicle, or consume or possess any alcohol.

Flight is scheduled to appear in Stony Plain Provincial Court on July 15.

Police have not released the name of the victim.
