A 40-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a pickup truck.

Edmonton police were called to the area of 82 street and 130 avenue just after 8 pm in our city's north side. The man was crossing the street when he was hit by a pickup truck. It's not known yet if he was in the crosswalk at the time.

Police say the driver took off. They are now asking for help in locating the driver and the truck. They have released a still taken from surveillance footage of the truck.

The truck is described as:

-       A 2011 white Ford F-250 Superduty crew with a long box

-       Licence plate BDC 1081

-       It has a construction rack/rebar in the box with “Backrack” lettering

-       Heavily covered in white/grey dust

-       Tinted windows

-       Believe it will have front end damage

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with head injuries.

Police shut down the 128th avenue to 130th avenue on 82 street for a few hours as they investigated.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
