One person is dead and another in serious condition in hospital following a head on crash on Highway 16 near Spruce Grove.
RCMP say an eastbound sport utility vehicle crossed the median between Secondary Highway 44 and Century Road, around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, into the path of a westbound SUV.
A 59-year-old woman from Entwhistle was pronounced dead at the scene. A 28-year-old Edmonton man, driving the eastbound vehicle, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
Mounties say the collision is still under investigation, but they don't believe alcohol was a factor.
