Edmonton Police are asking for any witnesses to an incident that left a man suffering from serious injuries in the Beacon Heights area late Thursday night.

Police said a passing driver reported a possible hit and ruh crash in the area of 121 Avenue near 41 Street, at about 11 p.m. Thursday.

When officers arrived, they found a 25-year-old man on the south side of 121 Street, suffering from serious injuries – however, his injuries appeared consistent with an assault, rather than being hit by a car.

Paramedics treated the man and rushed him to hospital, where he remains in critical, but stable, condition.

Investigators said a dark-coloured, older-model van was reported driving westbound on 121 Avenue, before turning northbound on 42 street in the area where the man was found. The van is described as a 1990s Dodge Caravan, with a boxy profile, possibly dark maroon or green, with damage near the rear passenger side bumper.

Anyone with information that could help investigators is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service non-emergency line at 780-423-4567 or #377 on a mobile phone.

Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
