Prince William and his soon-to-be wife Kate Middleton are planning on taking a trip to Canada after their wedding. Alberta is among the stops during the couple's nine-day trip.

The soon-to-be married couple will be taking part in Canada Day celebrations in Ottawa and will visit the Arctic.

"I think this is going to be a great occasion for all Canadians to show their appreciation to our Queen and her family and to the newlyweds on what is I understand to be their first international trip as newlyweds," said Heritage Minister James Moore.

A stop to Alberta is on the couple's itinerary, but details aren't yet known as to when they will be touring our province.

One man believes his vault of British monarchy memorabilia is one of the largest in Canada.

"Some of these are quite ancient," said Reuben Bauer.

Bauer says he met Queen Elizabeth 2 back in 1989 in Calgary. Now he's thrilled to hear William and Kate are coming to Canada.

"I'm excited about their coming and looking forward to actually hopefully, seeing them," he said.

A member of the Churchill Society says the couple's decision to visit Canada first is an important one.

"I think it indicates the significance with which the British Crown views Canada," said Dr. Edward Hutson.

The couple will also be making stops in Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and the Northwest Territories.

The couple lands in Canada on June 30th and will depart on July 8th.
