It’s the final full day on the campaign trail, with leaders working to get out the vote, but early numbers showed a record number of Albertans have already turned out to cast their vote in the advance polls.

Unofficial numbers released by Elections Alberta showed 235,410 voters cast ballots in advance polls – which they said showed a 31 percent increase from the last provincial election in 2012.

In the previous election, 179,820 voters went two 222 polling stations over three days.

This year, there were 335 polling stations that were open for four days.

Going into May 5, the number of voters in Alberta has also increased – from 2,265,169 in 2012 to 2,543,127 in 2015 – a 12 percent increase.
