Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) has seized over $1 million worth of drugs and arrested seven people as a result of an intricate investigation started in 2013.

Officials said on June 3, five Fort McMurray homes were searched, in addition to a room at the Chateau Nova hotel and the Supplement King store, located on Signal Road.

ALERT Fort McMurray said officers, with the help of Wood Buffalo RCMP, targeted the alleged trafficking networks of Patrick Felix, 34, and Jason Mulley, 31.

According to investigators, Felix and Mulley are accused of being central figures in cocaine and fentanyl distribution networks based in Fort McMurray – with added connections to Edmonton, Calgary and British Columbia.

Both men face charges of trafficking and conspiracy to traffic.

Officials said Mandy Gauvreau, 28, Alexander Jurich, 48, Rachel Jurich, 47, Spencer Brown, 22, all of Fort McMurray, and Levi Lund, 26, of Edmonton were all arrested in connection with the alleged trafficking operation.

Police said warrants had also been issued for Gary Partridge, 66, of Fairview, and Paul Ohelo, 22, of Fort McMurray.

As result of the investigation, ALERT said more than $1 million worth of drugs and two firearms had been taken off the street including:

  • 7.2 kilograms of cocaine
  • 2,908 fentanyl pills
  • 26.3 kilograms of marijuana
  • 198 grams of psilocybin
  • Loaded rifle with prohibited magazine
  • Shotgun

Investigators said they will work with Alberta’s Civil Forfeiture Office to review the items seized, including:

  • $23,150 in cash proceeds of crime
  • Six high-end vehicles
  • Six recreational vehicles and a trailer
  • Speedboat

“An investigation such as this speaks to ALERT’s success in bringing together the province’s most sophisticated policing resources to dismantle organized crime,” said ALERT Insp. Chad Coles in a statement.
