Woman in her 20s city’s 19th homicide victim of 2016: EPS

The Community Safety and Well-Being Task Force released a 68-page report Wednesday that makes recommendations it says would make Edmonton safer for all.

Edmonton police said Friday that a 26-year-old woman, found dead in an apartment suite on Wednesday, had been confirmed to be the victim of homicide.

Police said the Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy on Thursday, and confirmed Nikita Lee Healy, 26, died from a gunshot wound.

Healy’s body was found in an apartment suite in the area of 110 Avenue and 84 Street Wednesday, April 20 – paramedics called investigators to the scene at about 3:30 p.m.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The EPS Homicide Section is investigating.
