Edmonton police said Wednesday that charges had been laid in connection to a hit and run that left a woman with serious injuries.

Police said a 50-year-old male, whose name was not released to protect the identity of the woman who was hit and their family, is alleged to have struck his partner in the parking lot of a north side casino after 12:30 a.m. Monday morning.

The suspect fled the scene.

EPS said the 44-year-old woman remained in hospital in critical but stable condition.

He’s facing charges of aggravated assault, criminal hit and run causing bodily harm, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes and dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
