Organizers are expecting to break records at this year’s Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo.

Spokesperson  Emily Expo said tickets for Saturday sold out and she credits the famous faces for the boost in sales.

“The lineup this year is absolutely incredible.”

Those who attended agree.

“There is a thrill of a lifetime if you’re a geek,” Wendy Clark smiled.

Expo added that they were anticipating nearly 30,000 people, up from 15,000 last year.

“These celebrities and artists are accessible to people and it has caught on like wildfire.”

Actor Julian Ritchings said it was important for him to meet with fans.

“They are invested in the world that we are creating.”

Meeting with viewers of the show is something the Edmonton event has been designed to do, he added.

“It is structured in such a way that there is just enough chaos to make it exciting but it’s not so huge that you can’t take your time and chat to people and meet fans.”
