RCMP in northern Alberta said Wednesday that the death of a man in the area had been ruled a homicide, and two people had been arrested and charged in the case.

Back on Wednesday, June 25, at about 9 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP were called to an area known to locals as ‘Cutbank’, south of Grande Prairie, on reports of shots being fired in the area.

A man was found dead in a wooded area, and a second man was injured – he was treated for non-life threatening injuries and has since been released.

The deceased man has been identified as Devin Pisch, 27, and police said the Medical Examiner determined he died as a result of a gunshot wound, and his death was ruled a homicide.

RCMP said two people have since been arrested and charged: Jerrid Rychard, 35, and Gregory Decker, 33, are facing a number of firearms-related charges.

Both were remanded in custody, Rychard has been scheduled to appear in court July 4 in Grande Prairie, and Decker is scheduled to appear in court July 23.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-830-5701 or to submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
