Members of an Edmonton mosque are praying for the victims in Paris and for peace.

A special prayer service was held at the Hadi Mosque Sunday afternoon to remember the victims and to show solidarity with France.

“Fear is logical and natural, so we focus more on prayer so that our inside is satisfied and that people are peaceful,” said Mohyuddin Mirza, the outreach director.

The Admadiyya Muslim Community is condemning Friday’s attacks saying it goes against what its members are taught.

The prayer service was also a chance to remind people that terrorist attacks go against their Islamic teaching.

“We believe that this message is getting loud and clear. What the Islamic State is doing has nothing to do with Islam at all,” said Mirza. “The majority of the Muslims in Edmonton, in Canada, or anywhere are peaceful people,” said Mirza.
