An Edmonton tattoo artist made history as she broke the record for number of tattoos performed in 24 hours.

Diankh Lopez said by completing 808 tattoos she beat the former Guinness World Record of 801 tattoos performed in a 24-hour period by a single artist.

“My original goal was 1,000,” she added, saying that her hands were numb and she was tired.

“I can’t wait to sleep finally.”

Lopez was taking $20 donations during the event, money which she plans to donate to the Humane Society.

“Humane society is doing such a good thing saving shelter animals and I just want to support that.

“I always want to challenge myself and better myself in something. Even if I didn't beat the record today I would feel accomplished because of the funds that were raised for the humane society.”

Lopez began the stint at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Duke’s Bar and Grill.
