The 70-year-old woman was struck by a 2013 Nissan Altima when she was crossing a marked crosswalk in the area of 87 Avenue and 169 Street at approximately 7:45 p.m., police said.

Investigators learned the vehicle, which was travelling northbound on 87 Avenue, hit the woman as it turned west onto 87 Avenue.

The woman succumbed to her injuries at the hospital on Friday, October 20, EPS said.

The driver, 46-year-old Daniel Miles, was charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, police said.

EPS said speed and alcohol were not factors.
