St. Paul RCMP said a man had been arrested and charged in connection to a fatal hit and run on the Saddle Lake First Nation in November, 2016.

Back on November 26, 2016, police said officers were called to reports of a pedestrian lying in the road on the Saddle Lake First Nation.

A witness was on the scene trying to help the pedestrian, and told police a white Ford F-150 truck had hit the pedestrian as he lay on the road – the truck also crashed into a vehicle nearby, before driving away.

The truck was later recovered in Saddle Lake.

Romeo Quinney, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene. No one else was injured.

On Thursday, RCMP said Tyson Hunter, 44, had been arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death, failure to remain at the scene of an accident, and driving while disqualified.

He appeared in court Thursday.
