Edmonton Police said Wednesday that a man had been charged in connection to the alleged sexual assault of a teenaged girl dating back to September, 2014.

Police said on September 16, 2014, the 14-year-old girl reported she had been threatened at knife point and sexually assaulted, after a man convinced her to get into his vehicle in the area of 118 Avenue at about 11 p.m.

She said she noticed the same vehicle had circled the block a number of times before she was approached, and she had been repeatedly offered a ride.

On Wednesday, EPS said Miron Pekar, 53, had been charged with sexual assault with a weapon, sexual interference and uttering threats.

Police released a photo of the accused, because detectives believe there may be witnesses, more complainants or other individuals who he has approached.

Pekar is described as:

  • 172.4 cm (5’8”) tall
  • 72.57 kg (160 lbs)
  • Brown hair
  • Blue eyes
