An Ontario man arrived in Alberta Monday on his mission to raise awareness about brain injuries.

Troy Adams, 25, was 16 when he was in a car crash.

“I was ejected through the front passenger window and suffered a brain injury.”

He had bleeding to three parts of his brain. That’s when he started his quest to teach people about the dangers of such injuries.

“I didn’t understand the injury from the start and to this day I’m still learning about it.”

Adams began his run in St. Johns Newfoundland on April 1st.

His goal is to raise $100,000 by the end of the year. So far he has raised half of that to put towards education about brain injuries.

Along his run he is speaking to people, especially athletes. “You don’t want to tell your coaches that you’re seeing some stars, that you’re not feeling okay.”

Despite several injuries from the run, Adams plans to reach Victoria, British Columbia by the middle of November.

He is expected to run through Edmonton Tuesday.
