Edmonton Police have confirmed, the weekend death of a young man on the northside was murder.

On Monday afternoon, police said the Medical Examiner confirmed Mohamed Jama Salad, 18, of Edmonton was stabbed to death over the weekend.

The EPS Homicide Section had been investigating since the body of a man was found Sunday morning.

Police and paramedics were called to a parking lot in the area of 133 Avenue and 97 Street at about 11:20 a.m. Sunday where a man with stab wounds was found dead.

Investigators said they were told people who knew the victim were taking the injured man to hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries before police and paramedics arrived.

Investigators were busy Sunday combing through a crime scene in an alley near 94 Street and 138 Avenue.
The victim's identity has not been released. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday morning.
