Thousands are expected to attend the official regimental funeral for a St. Albert RCMP officer who was shot by a suspect over the weekend, and died in hospital days later.

On Monday, January 26, Constable David Wynn will be laid to rest with full regimental honours in St. Albert.

The funeral is planned for 2 p.m. at Servus Credit Union Place.

Before the official ceremony, a procession is planned between the start point at noon on Poirier Avenue, near Sir Winston Churchill Avenue, and ending at Servus Place.

RCMP officers, along with other representatives from police and military forces across North America will march along the procession route eastbound along Poirier Avenue, then northbound on Campbell Road.

There will be minimal parking in the area near the procession and funeral, so the City of St. Albert has set up four Park and Ride locations – with pickups departing from the four locations between 10:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., and drop-offs leaving from Servus Place between 3:45 p.m. and 5 p.m.

The funeral will be livestreamed on the CTV Edmonton website.

On Sunday, January 25, visitation times have been set up at the St. Albert Alliance Church (25416 S. Hwy 633).

Emergency Services Personnel will be able to pay their respects between 5 and 6 p.m., the public may pay their respects between 6 and 8 p.m.
