One of three people initially charged with attempted murder after an attack at the Churchill LRT station is expected to be sentenced on Monday.

Edmonton police charged three men after the apparent random assault in November of 2012 where a 49-year-old man was pushed onto the LRT tracks.

The incident happened after an argument between a man and a group of individuals on the concourse level.

The man was allegedly followed onto the LRT platform by two men from the group, who assaulted him and threw him onto the tracks.

As he tried to climb off the tracks, a third man from the group joined in and prevented him from climbing off.

However, a number of bystanders intervened and helped the man get off the tracks.

He was treated for minor injuries.

Transit officers detained the three suspects until police arrived.

Irwin Keshane, Wesley Osecap, and Dean Rain were each charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Media reports indicate that Keshane and Rain pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm and were both sentenced to nine months in jail.

Sentencing for Osecap has been scheduled for 9 a.m. in Edmonton Provincial Court.
