Officials at a Sherwood Park high school said a temporary closure will last at least two days longer, while the cleanup of an electrical fire continues.

Salisbury Composite High School will remain closed Wednesday, June 12 and Thursday, June 13 – as the smoke clears.

Originally, officials said a small electrical fire would keep the school closed Tuesday only – due to a small electrical fire in the building overnight.

School officials cited safety of students and staff as the main reason for keeping the school closed.

Due to the closure, alternative arrangements were made to allow students to write their diploma exams.

Salisbury High School students with last names beginning with A to K will write their exams at Clover Bar Junior High, while students with last names starting with L to Z would write their exams at Sherwood Heights Junior High.

In addition, the school said students receiving accommodations will write their exams at Clover Bar Junior High, and Continuing Education students, or students re-writing their exams will do so at Sherwood Heights.

Shuttle buses will run from Salisbury High School to the other schools – officials said they will leave from the east parking lot at Salisbury at 8:30 a.m.
