Hours after police were called to the scene of a violent attack in a west Edmonton warehouse, investigators confirmed the suspect in the fatal incident had been arrested.

Officers were called to the warehouse in the area of 161 Street and 121 A Avenue just after 2 p.m.

Police said two people had died, and four others were injured in the stabbing at the warehouse.

Acting Inspector Malcolm Allan addressed media at the scene, and said the suspect was armed with two knives, and was wearing body armour at the time of the stabbing.

It’s believed the suspect – identified as Jayme Pasieka, 29, fled the scene in a green SUV.

“It’s imperative that we get him into custody and establish his whereabouts as soon as possible,” Allan said at the scene, as officers searched for Pasieka.

After 5 p.m., Allan confirmed the suspect had been taken into custody in the area of 39 Street and 74 Avenue, with the help of the public.

“A very vigilant citizen noticed the vehicle with somebody matching the suspect description inside our tactical team just now took the individual into custody and confirmed it is the same person,” Allan said.

Allan also said two individuals that were injured in the incident were in serious condition, the conditions of the other two were considered less serious.

At the end of the day, EPS said officials were also working with witnesses.

“It was quite chaotic at first, as you can imagine at a scene like that, at somebody’s workplace, there’s a lot of traumatized people so we have our victim services full court press in that regard,” Allan said. “We’re trying to help these individuals as best we can.”

Charges are pending, police are still investigating.
