Officials with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) said Tuesday that two people were facing charges, and four guns were seized following a drug trafficking investigation in Red Deer.

ALERT said the seizure took place on May 19, with help from Red Deer RCMP – police searched a home on the 1900 block of 54 Street, and a number of items were seized, including:

  • SKS semi-automatic carbine with collapsible stock
  • .308-caliber semi-automatic rifle
  • 7mm rifle
  • 12 gauge shotgun
  • Ammunition
  • Body armour
  • 9 grams of cocaine
  • 98 suspected codeine pills
  • $980 cash proceeds of crime

According to investigators, the firearms were not legally owned, and are the subject of forensic analysis to determine if they are connected to any crimes.

Now, Landon Dorval, 22, and Brittany Aebly, 26, are facing the following charges: two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, four counts of careless storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm for a dangerous purpose.

Both accused have been released from custody, and are expected to appear in court July 7.
