Edmonton police said a man in his 30s had died, after he was shot over the weekend.

On Thursday, police confirmed Daniel Holly, 34, who was injured in a shooting Saturday, succumbed to those injuries Wednesday afternoon.

Back on Saturday, July 23 at about 9 p.m., officers were called to reports of shots fired in the area of 432 Brintnell Blvd.

When officers arrived, they found Holly, and a female, both suffering from gunshot wounds.

Witnesses saw two males running from the area, allegedly fleeing the scene in an older model minivan.

A short time later, police found the same minivan, and tried to stop it – but the driver of the vehicle did not comply, and drove erratically to the area of 130 Avenue and 70 Street, where shots were fired at police as the suspects attempted to flee.

In the area of 130 Avenue and 86 Street, police said the two male suspects left the vehicle, and fled on foot – police tracked them to a nearby field, where they were arrested.

As a result, Dagmawi Admasu, 27, and Tysean Wawryk, 21, are each facing a number of charges, including first degree murder, four charges of attempted murder, and a number of other firearms-related charges.

EPS said Holly’s death is considered the city’s 28th homicide of 2016.
