A fire in Ryley, Alberta has destroyed a landmark in the village.

Fire crews were called out to the Alberta Hotel located at 5016 50 Avenue Sunday morning.

Regional fire chief Cindy Conroy told CTV News there were four stations on site.

Eyewitnesses said the hotel was a landmark in the community.

According to the village website the hotel was recently renovated.

Ryley is located about one hour southeast of Edmonton.
