A man remains in serious condition in hospital, while officials with the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team are investigating what happened.

ASIRT said Monday, that they are investigating how a man was injured Thursday night.

Just after 11 p.m., officers with the Edmonton Police Service encountered a man and a woman who were fighting in the area of 106 A Avenue and 96 Street.

Evidence released by ASIRT found that while EPS officers were trying to detain the man, described as being 39-years-old, a Taser was used.

The man was injured in the incident, and ASIRT said he remained in hospital Monday in serious condition.

Officials with ASIRT said they were investigating how the man was injured – and ASIRT’s Executive Direct will determine whether the actions of the officer were justified.
