Police have released the name and cause of death for the victim of a homicide that took place in a downtown apartment on New Year's Eve.
The Medical Examiner has confirmed the victim is Misty Ward, 27, and she died as a result of a stab wound.
Ward's body was discovered by the building manager of the apartment block located on Jasper Avenue and 83 Street.
Police were called at about 3:30 p.m. on December 31, following the gruesome discovery.
Officers have charged 27-year-old Joshua Houle with second degree murder, indignity to a human body, and two counts of breach of recognizance.
Police believe Ward and Houle knew eachother.
Houle is in custody, and will appear in court again in January.
